Youth Education Service began with a one-woman educator, Karen King, and her desire to help students prepare themselves for a strong, positive and productive future.  

Nothing makes her smile bigger, or her eyes shine brighter than when she hears a struggling student say, “I understand this now and I can do it” or “I’ve raised my score and didn’t think it was possible!” 

Teaching them a challenging concept to better prepare them for success, in both testing and life, is what has been her focused effort for 30+ years.  She strives to make learning fun by bringing creative learning activities with a focus on education and a lifetime of knowledge through tutoring and educational workshops has been her life’s effort.

Karen King graduated from Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA earning a Bachelor of Science degree with a concentration on Elementary and Secondary education.

She immediately established herself as an educator from the beginning of her career.  Through the years, she has taught in public and private schools across Louisiana, along with operating her own private education business in Covington/Mandeville, LA, enlightening, educating and encouraging young lives all along the way. 

 As part of her development, she has written and implemented numerous successful curricula on various subjects, so she understands how to present useful, practical information to all types of learners.  She has been recognized and awarded through the years.  She is happily married, a wonderful mom and now an amazing grandmother.

For many years, Karen operated a youth-focused non-profit company called Power of Positive Services (P.O.P.S.) in the Greater St. Tammany Parish areas of Covington and Mandeville.  This organization supported and served youth in educational endeavors and physical fitness.  

It provided tutoring, homework help, test prep, home school assistance and youth physical fitness classes for all youth in need, including our most vulnerable and underserved.  She organized student performance and enrichment activities to provide opportunities for these well-deserving students, but also the most susceptible and at-risk youth.  

Always trying to improve her sphere of influence to create a better society, for all.  Additionally, through her life of service, she has served in both leadership and support roles for various youth groups and music organizations tailored to young minds.

Karen King is a people-centered, individual focused person whose greatest joy comes from helping other people, especially students, to overcome the obstacles in their way and accomplish at the highest level possible for themselves.  She is highly motivated, has a strong work ethic, and is highly adaptable with exceptional people skills that allow her to relate to and teach a wide range of students and personalities.
