RESOURCES AND FAQ (WWW.ACT.ORG)

3. ☑ Acceptable Forms of ID

You can use a current official photo ID which must be an original, current (valid) ID issued by a city/state/federal government agency or your school.  ID must be in hard plastic card format. Paper or electronic formats are NOT acceptable.  You must use the name on your ID to register for the test, and the photo ID must be clearly recognizable as you.

If you cannot meet the requirement above, you MUST present this ACT Student Identification Form (PDF) with photo if you do not have a current official photo ID. This document must be fully completed by a school official or notary public, neither of which may be related.  Click the link below for access to the ACT policy.

Enhancements and Changes to the ACT Test in 2025-2026

Information provided from www.act.org

What’s Better About the Enhanced ACT? The enhanced ACT is the most streamlined and flexible test ever! It's shorter, smarter and built to help you succeed.

  • You’ll finish faster and feel less rushed thanks to the shortest test times yet.
  • It gives you more time to think through each question.
  • It’s a calmer, more focused experience to help you stay sharp to the finish.
  • The enhanced ACT is designed to reduce pressure to give you more control.

What’s Changing, What’s Staying the Same, and Why It Matters

1.  A shorter test by 75 fewer minutes and 44 less questions, but the core content and subject areas are the same.  This means less time in the testing environment.

2.  You will have more time per question, but the same skills and knowledge will be assessed to support your college goals and without sacrificing what colleges expect.

3.  The Math section now only has 4 answer choices instead of the previous 5 choices.  This makes Math match the other sections that already have only 4 choices to keep things consistent.

4.  The Reading passages will be shorter but will still measure comprehension and analytical ability.  It reduces mental fatigue while keeping the same standards.

5.  The Science and Writing sections will be optional.  You can choose what sections to take based on your educational goals, requirements and strengths.

6.  Both paper and online options remain so you can choose the best method for yourself.  The ACT Score Scale of 1 – 36 remains unchanged.  Superscoring remains unaffected to build your best Composite score for Math, English and Reading over multiple test efforts.
